Session Time and Location

The live session is complete.

Target Audience

This course is designed for pharmacists, nurse practitioners or other health care professionals involved in the comprehensive medication management of psychiatric and/or neurological patients.

Session Summary

There are very few personal accounts of complete recovery and a full return to a high level of functioning by young persons who suffer a profound psychotic disorder with delusions and ongoing command hallucinations and homelessness for several years. It is important for medical professionals to see a living example of such a recovery to understand that full recovery from even treatment-resistant schizophrenia is possible today. They can be both informed and inspired by such a triumph over a neuropsychiatric disorder that is generally regarded as permanently disabling. Anosognosia and the development of insight are discussed. The efficacy of clozapine on refractory psychosis is very well portrayed by this presentation.
