Target Audience

This course is designed for pharmacists, nurse practitioners or other health care professionals involved in the comprehensive medication management of psychiatric and/or neurological patients.

Session Summary

Dr. Tamminga will report data from the “Bipolar-Schizophrenia Network for Intermediate Phenotypes” (B-SNIP). This was started to test conventional psychiatric diagnoses for similarities in biological characteristics using brain imaging, electrophysiological, oculomotor, and cognitive characteristics. From these extensive and complex biomarkers, she found certain biomarkers associated with specific psychiatric disorders. Therefore, her team has re-clustered individuals with psychosis based on biomarkers and found a previously uncorrelated system of biomarkers. Participants will learn about the implications of these measures for psychosis research, treatment, and diagnosis.
