Telehealth is used in a variety of healthcare settings for timely communication between patients and healthcare professionals. It is associated with improved patient outcomes, including mortality, quality of life, and healthcare utilization, and reduced healthcare costs. Though telehealth has historically been limited to a finite number of patient care issues, the application of telehealth continues to expand. While physicians have been involved with the delivery of telehealth services for over 40 years, little is known about how it can support pharmacist services and the most appropriate use of telehealth to increase access to pharmacy care.
This idea exchange will primarily serve as a networking meeting for those currently using telehealth services and those who are interested in learning more about telehealth. Participants will engage in guided discussions regarding the history and potential value of telehealth, steps for implementing telehealth across a variety of care settings, and strategies of addressing challenges. Participants are encouraged to attend regardless of their current level of experience with telehealth, and residents and new practitioners are welcome!
