The Judith J. Saklad Memorial Award celebrates the life and work of the late Judith J. Saklad. Dr. Saklad was Clinical Pharmacologist and Clinical Coordinator of Pharmaceutical Services at San Antonio State School and Clinical Assistant Professor of Pharmacy and Pharmacology at The University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. She was a founding member of CPNP/AAPP and nationally recognized as an innovator of pharmaceutical care to children and adults with serious mental disorders, developmental disabilities, and mental retardation.
This award is to be presented annually to a senior psychiatric pharmacy practitioner who has achieved a level of professional distinction and demonstrates a continuing dedication to the practice of psychiatric pharmacy. Like Dr. Saklad, this practitioner will represent the qualities and ideals of professional enthusiasm, in addition to possessing a passion for optimizing patient care.
The Saklad Memorial Award will be given to a psychiatric or neurologic pharmacist who is recognized by their peers as a role model and has made a broad range of contributions to the specialty. Recipients must be:
Current members of the AAPP Board of Directors and nominating committee are not eligible for consideration. Members of the nominating committee are also not allowed to nominate or participate in the nomination of a candidate and must recuse themselves if consideration of any candidates represents a conflict of interest for them.

The Saklad nomination window will be open for 2 months each summer. Nominations must be made by an AAPP member(s) though others can contribute to the nominating materials. Members of the Nominations and Awards Committee are not eligible for nomination and posthumous awards will not be considered.
By the close date, the nominator must submit a PDF document to info@aapp.org recommending the candidate. The document should consist of the following:
Award selection will be made by the Nominating Committee with selection completed and announced no later than November 30.
Nominations will be carried over for a period of three total years. Nominations on file can be put forward for future consideration beyond this three-year point window only if the entire nomination packet is re-submitted.
