CPNP 2022 is already a one-of-a-kind event. It is the first in-person meeting after two exclusively virtual events during the COVID-19 Pandemic. But more than that, 2022 marks a historic milestone for our organization. Twenty-five years ago, on March 24, 1998, in Austin, Texas, the network of pharmacists formerly known as the Conference of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists became a professional society. The formation of CPNP was the culmination of efforts of many pharmacists practicing in the psychiatry and neurology specialties over the past 30 years. CPNP has continued to evolve and grow and we are thrilled to be celebrating CPNP and psychiatric pharmacy throughout 2022 and at the 2022 CPNP Annual Meeting.

Pre-Meeting Workshop a Must Attend

Hosted at the beautiful Marriott on the San Antonio Riverwalk during April 24-27, CPNP 2022 kicks off with a pre-meeting workshop, Hands-on Approach to Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) Risk Management for People Living with Mental Illness. This morning event on Sunday, April 24, will be led by two experienced faculty who will facilitate hands-on learning and peer-to-peer exchange through practical, case-based scenarios. Attendees will leave with valuable insights into CVD risk management making this a must-attend event!

Quality Programming

Sunday continues with three dually-accredited ACPE and BCPP recertification sessions (aka the Clinical Application Series) and the Student Education Track, followed by the CPNP Forum On Our Future, the Saklad Award Presentation, and the welcome reception that will honor outgoing CPNP President Bob Haight and celebrate the 25th anniversary of CPNP.

The next two and a half days are filled with even more high quality programming from leading experts on topics from Racial and Health Disparities in Psychiatry and the Role of the Pharmacist to Novel Approaches to Engaging Individuals within the Criminal Justice System to Outpatient Management of Alcohol Withdrawal. Twelve of your fellow CPNP members are presenting sessions, an acknowledgement of the impactful, cutting-edge work of psychiatric pharmacists.

Opportunities to Engage and Network

Sprinkled throughout CPNP 2022 will be opportunities to participate in a number of grant-supported symposia and product theaters to learn about the newest drugs and devices. Additionally, two poster sessions will feature the exciting research being conducted across the nation, while Idea Exchanges presented by CPNP Communities provide an additional opportunity for peer-to-peer discussion, networking, and dialogue on current topics. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to reconnect with peers and colleagues from near and far in San Antonio.

Live or Virtual-You Choose

The CPNP Staff and Board of Directors are monitoring the COVID-19 environment, and precautions have already been put into place for in-person attendees, including a vaccine requirement. Please take a moment to read more about the COVID protocols currently in place for the event and be watching for a complete list of protocols closer to the event. Additionally, for those unable to attend, a virtual streaming option is provided. Learn more about your attendance options, and be sure to register before the March 24, 2022 early registration deadline, coincidently the same month and date that CPNP was founded back in 1998!

Mark your calendars now to join us in Texas as we honor our past and look to the future of psychiatric pharmacy!
