Complete your volunteer interest profile/application on or before November 19

AAPP is truly a member-driven organization with 1 in 6 members volunteering for AAPP in some capacity. From now through November 19, AAPP is encouraging members to sign up to serve on one of over 25 committees, councils, editorial boards, and/or task forces. These opportunities range from well-known committees like our Program Committee to more narrowerly focused task forces such as our Employer Resource Center Task Force.

Learn More

AAPP has developed numerous resources to assist you in exploring your volunteer options. MyAAPP/Volunteer Opportunities is the home-base for all things volunteerism in AAPP. Recommended steps to better understand and apply for opportunities include:

  1. Review the leadership pathways video to get a big picture view of the volunteer structure within AAPP and the paths you can take.
  2. Target which committees interest you and watch the relevant, brief committee chair recordings to better understand what each committee does, how frequently they meet, and the time commitment requested.
  3. For even more information and the chance to meet committee leadership, register for 2024 Communities Week where we will be hosting a volunteer fair on Wednesday, October 23 from 1:30-2:30 PM central time. The leaders of 15 different committees and task forces will be available in different breakout rooms. Select from up to 3 different committees/task forces you are interested in and visit those breakout rooms to learn more about the work of those committees/task forces.
  4. Review the specific volunteer opportunities available at https://aapp.org/mycpnp/opportunities/volunteer/613841
  5. From there, link to the online application and complete it to alert us to your interests and top 3 volunteer preferences.

Reap the Benefits

Volunteerism has benefits for both your employer and you. Your employer might be more likely to support your volunteerism if they contemplate the benefits outlined in our related infographic. Many of our volunteers cite the following benefits:

  • The chance to give back to the profession
  • Friendships and networking contacts
  • Accomplishments/service to add to your CV
  • Points towards AAPP fellowship
  • Committee service eligible for BPS CPD hours (BCPP and other credentials)
  • Visibility and leadership opportunities for future, higher level AAPP roles

Our current volunteers say it best.

My employer has benefited from the knowledge I have gained as a volunteer. This knowledge has been used to change some of our local prescribing policies and practices. Additionally, my connections have provided access to people within the AAPP community who have expertise in subjects outside my area of experience.
- Michael Shuman, PharmD, BCPP

As a volunteer, I gain a sense of community and assurances that I am moving in the right direction with a shared vision of like-minded colleagues.
- Angie Babin, BSPharm, MBA

Whether you have been a long time member or are new to the profession and organization, come join us as an AAPP volunteer for 2025-2026!
