Danielle Stutzman, PharmD, BCPP, Psychiatric Pharmacist with Children’s Hospital in Colorado represented CPNP in an interview for an article in the New York Times about prescribing of stimulants online. The article in particular discussed Cerebral, a telehealth start-up who recently announced that the company’s clinicians would temporarily stop prescribing controlled substances to new patients for ADHD treatment after receiving agrand jury subpoena from the U.S. attorney’s office for the Eastern District of New York. Dr. Stutzman shared prescribing trends in adults during pandemic (based on Kaiser NorCal study, etc), what an adequate screen should look like, behavioral interventions available, and benefits of stimulants. She emphasized big picture risks versus benefits, with particular focus on the risk for not treating ADHD and just how effective stimulants are. As a follow-up to this article, Dr. Julie Dopheide, Professor at the University of Southern California, joined Southern California Public Radio to speak on this topic. Our thanks to Drs.
