The College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists (CPNP) board officer transition will occur on July 1. CPNP thanks outgoing board members Ericka Crouse, PharmD, BCGP, BCPP, FASCP, FASHP, Megan Ehret, PharmD, MS, BCPP, and Karen Moeller, PharmD, BCPP, for their dedicated service.

Continuing on the Board for 2020-2021 are Marshall Cates, PharmD, BCPP, FASHP, FCCP, Lisa Goldstone, MS, PharmD, BCPS, BCPP, Tawny Smith, PharmD, BCPP, and Heidi Wehring, PharmD, BCPP.

CPNP welcomes the three members elected by the membership to serve on the 2020-2022 Board of Directors. Assuming their offices effective July 1, 2020, will be Drs. Cindy Gutierrez, Robert Haight, and Clint Ross.

Dr. Cindy Gutierrez graduated from The University of Texas College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy in 2001, and then went on to complete a two year combined Psychiatric Pharmacy Practice Residency - Master of Science in Pharmacy through The University of Texas and The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 2003. Since then she has served patients as a psychiatric clinical pharmacy specialist at the South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS), when she joined the PRIME Psychiatry interdisciplinary outpatient clinic. The team provides care to those with serious mental illness, with a focus on the whole patient rather than symptoms, and patient-identified recovery goals, with a focus on decreasing hospitalizations and emergency room visits. Cindy developed the formal PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Practice Residency at STVHCS and achieved initial ASHP accreditation in 2006. Over the past three years she has assumed a greater management role, now serving as Associate Chief of Clinical Pharmacy Programs, but continues to see patients in PRIME one day per week. Nationally, she serves as a VA Pharmacy Benefits Management (PBM) Clinical Pharmacy Advisory Board member, and Chairs the VA PBM Clinical Pharmacy Practice Office Mental Health Subject Matter Expert Workgroup.

Dr. Robert Haight earned a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Minnesota, College of Pharmacy in 1998 and completed a residency in Psychopharmacology Research at Regions Hospital, Saint Paul, Minnesota in 1999. Dr. Haight joined the University of Minnesota Medical Center (UMMC) in Minneapolis, Minnesota as a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist in Psychiatry in 2001 and in May 2020 joined the Saint Peter Regional Treatment Center. His research is focused on the use of shared decision-making aids and improving transitions of care by utilizing psychiatric pharmacy and medication therapy management teams.

Dr. Clint Ross graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Pharmacy with his PharmD degree before completing his PGY1 Pharmacy Practice and PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy residencies at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, SC. Since residency, he has worked in multiple inpatient and outpatient settings to care for patients with mental illness. He is currently a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist at MUSC where he works on inpatient psychiatry teams within acute psychiatric unit(s). He also serves as the Residency Program Director (RPD) for PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy residents and as a clinical preceptor to pharmacy residents and students on a monthly basis.
