CPNP is making a direct impact with patients and caregivers by expanding the educational resources available to them. Psychiatric pharmacists are applying their unique perspective through these resources to help the patients and caregivers understand the unique considerations and challenges associated with psychiatric medications.

Updates to a Classic Patient Resource

For more than a decade, CPNP has written and updated a series of medication fact sheets to provide eay-to-understand details to patients and caregivers for their psychiatric medications. The fact sheets are viewed more than a million times each year through our partnership with NAMI.org.

Over the last year, the Medication Fact Sheet Editorial Board completed new medication fact sheets on tranylcypromine, deutetrabenazine, phenelzine, and lurasidone, as well as updated alcohol and opioid disorder treatments fact sheets. Additionally, all of the sheets have  been formatted as PDFs to allow for easier download and distribution - you can print them for your patients!

The medication fact sheets are available on NAMI's website, and CPNP members can download PDF versions from the CPNP Medication Database.

New Resources: What You Need To Know...

The CPNP Consumer Relations Committee has launched a new series of resources addressing What You Need To Know About... Generic Medications, Off-label Usage of Medications, Long-Acting Injectables, Tardive Dyskinesia, Medication-induced Sexual Dysfunction, Weight Gain, and What to Avoid with Psychiatric Medications. These basic information sheets address some of the common questions and concerns of patients using psychiatric medications.

These patient resources are available on NAMI's website, and CPNP members can download PDF versions from the Resources for Patients and Caregivers.

Many Thanks!

Thanks to the committee, editorial board, and authors for making these resources available and, as always, thanks to NAMI for their continued partnership with CPNP.
