A CPNP educational activity, Developing a Treatment Plan for Binge Eating Disorder When First-Line Options Fail, is available online. This application-based case is approved for 2.25 contact hours of ACPE credit and is designed for pharmacists and other healthcare professionals with advanced experience in psychiatry who have an interest in learning more about the treatment of binge eating disorder.

Authored by Steven C. Stoner, PharmD, BCPP, and edited by Leigh Anne Nelson, PharmD, BCPP, this hands-on activity provides the opportunity to develop an appropriate treatment and monitoring plan for a patient with binge eating disorder. Learning is reinforced through an examination with answer justifications and an evidence-based, referenced case key. There is no fee for the activity and participants must complete an exam and evaluation at the end of the activity in order to receive 2.25 contact hours of continuing pharmacy education credit.

Learning objectives include:

  1. Identify clinical features and treatment issues associated with binge eating disorder.
  2. Evaluate evidenced-based data of current and novel treatment approaches to address unmet clinical needs in patients with binge eating disorder.
  3. Apply evidenced-based research findings to the clinical care of patients with binge eating disorder.
  4. Tailor individualized treatment plans for patients with binge eating disorder and multiple comorbid disease states and drug related problems to improve treatment outcomes.
