With the continued expansion of PGY-2 residencies (see the survey report in this issue), there has also been an increase in the number of residency program directors (RPDs). Old and new RPDs build the programs based on ASHP standards, based on their own residency experiences, and based on input they can gather from other RPDs. That ad hoc collaboration helps everyone to craft stronger residency programs and residencies, and CPNP hopes to foster more of that collaboration by supporting the RPD Community.

CPNP Communities were launched in 2014 to provide a basic infrastructure to facilitate email discussions, online resource sharing, and a convenient venue to interact with others in your niche practice setting or around a common area of professional interest. The RPD Community facilitates sharing ideas about residency programs, the structure of the programs, residency documents, and accreditation standards. Specialists who currently have a residency or are hoping to develop a residency are encouraged to join the discussion.

To join the RPD Community or any of the other CPNP Communities, go to https://aapp.org/community and click “Manage your preferences” on the left.
