We at CPNP envision a world where every individual with a psychiatric or neurologic disorder has a care team that includes a neuropsychiatric pharmacist accountable for optimal medication therapy.
The board has worked with representatives from various segments of our membership to clarify CPNP’s role in progressing toward that vision. The sheer number of new initiatives and ideas generated by our enthusiastic committee and work group members over the past few years has provided a clear illustration of the many different paths available to the organization. As the board navigated through the strategic planning process, the most difficult task was deciding which paths not to take. This strategic plan attempts to make the best possible use of our financial, marketing, and human capital while enhancing the unique value we provide to the field and to members.
As the voice of the specialty, our mission is to advance the reach and practice of neuropsychiatric pharmacists. We will focus our resources on serving neuropsychiatric pharmacists and aspiring neuropsychiatric pharmacists including students and residents. We are more committed than ever to ensuring that our major efforts reflect our true character.
It is in our character to work with others to achieve common goals. We advance our profession through volunteerism and sharing. We challenge the status quo. At every step of the way, we set the highest standards for dedication, integrity and expertise. We are actively reallocating resources to better serve neuropsychiatric pharmacists through projects that emphasize synergy, giving, progress and excellence.
Over the next three years, we will focus significant resources on five core goals that have the potential to transform the organization and the specialty. We will invest in:
We will actively promote inclusion of neuropsychiatric pharmacists as an important component of the health care team and advocate for those living with mental illness.
We will advance our various educational products to remain innovative and to provide the best value to our members.
We will maintain a fiscally and operationally effective organization as well as cultivate new leaders, improve committee structures, and enhance the member and volunteer experience through involvement and participation.
We will focus on connecting members with the peers and resources most important to them.
We will improve our visibility by establishing the Mental Health Clinician (MHC) as a respected peer-reviewed journal.
