AAPP is proud to host psychiatric pharmacists, psychiatric pharmacy residents, and pharmacy students of diverse races, ethnicities, religions, genders, and sexual orientations at AAPP 2024. AAPP understands how the environment in the host state of Florida may be concerning to conference registrants and members and, as such, AAPP has taken many steps to prioritize the attendee experience and wellbeing.

Giving Back and Communicating our Core Values

AAPP is partnering with Social Offset to offer Annual Meeting attendees the opportunity to contribute to organizations in Florida that make a difference in people’s lives. Aligning with AAPP’s values, we want to make a positive impact on the cities in which we hold our meetings, leaving Orlando better than we found it.

When you travel, every purchase you make generates tax revenue for a state government. That revenue may contribute to government policies that don’t align with your values. Giving to a local charity working towards the equity goals you care about can help balance

the scale. Every dollar counts, so consider giving what you can! If you are interested in matching the amount of tax revenue that your hotel and local purchases in Orlando create, the calculated offset would be approximately $35 per day.

AAPP worked with SocialOffset to select vetted charities that support LGBTQ+ equality, racial justice, and mental health in Florida. Social Offset will send 100% of your tax-deductible donation to your designated organization: Equality Florida, Florida Legal Services, Inc., and NAMI Greater Orlando. AAPP will match up to $1,000 in donations to each charity.

Priority Charities

Equality Florida is the largest civil rights organization dedicated to securing full equality for Florida’s LGBTQ+ community. Through lobbying, grassroots organizing, education, and coalition building, they are changing Florida so that no one suffers harassment or discrimination on the basis of their sexual orientation or gender identity or expression.

Florida Legal Services is a statewide leader in advancing economic, social, and racial justice. They advocate for poor, vulnerable, and hard to reach people through impact litigation, legislative and administrative advocacy, education, and strategic partnerships.

NAMI Greater Orlando is dedicated to improving the quality of life for individuals and supporting families affected by mental illness through education, support, and advocacy.
