Target Audience

This activity serves as an educational tool for pharmacists seeking Board Certified Psychiatric Pharmacist (BCPP) Recertification credit and other pharmacists and healthcare providers seeking advanced education in patient management, disease state management, information management, and health policy and practice management in the field of psychiatric pharmacy.

Content

The Clinical Application Series is an application-based continuing pharmacy education (CPE) activity designed to improve competency of partcipants. An application-based CPE activity requires that participants apply the information learned. In an application-based CPE activity, the learning objectives are written at a higher level in order to assess the learners’ ability to use the information that is learned at the current level of practice by Board Certified Psychiatric Pharmacists. The examination for this product often features case studies requiring that the participant apply the principles learned through the readings. 

The Clinical Application Series includes:

• Online access to the recorded speakers' audio presentations synchronized with their slide presentations (available by May 18, 2018).
• For pharmacists, 5 hours of ACPE credit and 5 hours of BCPP Recertification credit achieved by successfully completing the online CPNP recertification examination.
• Access to the CPNP testing center with exam submission due on or before October 22, 2018.

Course Requirements

To satisfactorily complete the Clinical Application Series and receive 5 hours of BCPP Recertification and ACPE credit, candidates must meet the following requirements:

1. Abide by a confidentiality and honesty statement requiring individual completion of the Recertification education.
2. Complete an online assessment on or before the deadline of October 22, 2018.
3. Meet the minimum passing score as determined by a panel of experts within four (4) weeks following the exam deadline.
4. Completion of an activity evaluation form.
5. Partial credit is not available for individual topics within the programming; it is either all 5 hours of Clinical Application Series credit or none.

You will proceed through the following steps to satisfactorily complete this course:

Your ACPE credit will be submitted directly to CPE Monitor within 48 hours after the official exam review and minimum score determination (4 weeks after close date) as long as you have provided the relevant information in your profile. BCPP Recertification credit is earned and reported within the year the assessment is successfully completed.

Identification and Management of Delirium in the Elderly ACPE #: 0284-0000-18-022-L01-P (Application); Domain 1 Speaker: Dora Cheung, PharmD, BCPS, BCGP Learning Objectives: Differentiate clinical features of delirium as compared with dementia in elderly patients. Evaluate a patient for risk factors for delirium. Design a treatment plan using non-pharmacologic methods to prevent delirium in an elderly patient. Evaluate the benefits and risks of antipsychotics in the management of delirium in an elderly patient.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis ACPE #: 0284-0000-18-023-L01-P (Application); Domain 1 Speaker: Harry Sivec, PhD Learning Objectives: Contrast cognitive behavioral therapy for psychosis, including group, individual, and brief/high-yield intervention, with standard CBT interventions. Assess challenges associated with training and implementing CBTp in a variety of practice settings. Compare the efficacy of CBTp to usual care for patients with schizophrenia who experience persistent symptoms of psychosis.

Evaluate the risk of neurobehavioral complications secondary to pre-pregnancy and prenatal exposure to antidepressants and mood stabilizers. Park, PharmD, BCPP, FCSHP Learning Objectives: Devise a treatment and monitoring plan for a patient infected with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV), from pre-treatment evaluation to post-treatment surveillance. The College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Pharmacists can obtain 5 hours of ACPE credit and 5 hours of BCPP Recertification credit by successfully completing the online Clinical Application Series examination.

CPNP will report credits earned into CPE Monitor within 48 hours of exam completion. BCPP Recertification credit will be reported after the official exam review and cut-off score determination occurs.
