Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee (DEI)

My Why

I have been fortunate enough to have role models who prioritize volunteering and serving the community. I enjoy volunteering my time and giving back as I want to make a difference in areas that I am passionate about. Pharmacy is a constantly evolving profession and I hope to foster positive changes in the field and advocate for areas I believe in.

I Gain…

Gratification. Overall, seeing the effects of volunteering, such as the contributions made to a field or a final product, can be extremely gratifying. By volunteering as part of the DEI committee of AAPP, I can work with like-minded individuals on a national level to tackle this important area. We all come from different perspectives and angles given our unique backgrounds as well as work experiences as psychiatric pharmacists. To gain from the perspective of others on this committee has been a great learning experience for me.

My Employer Benefits…

By fostering my commitment to giving back, I am also encouraged to give back to my community while simultaneously benefiting my organization. Volunteering helps to build that sense of community while also developing my leadership skills.

My Volunteer Tip

Assess your skills, your strengths, and the areas where you feel you can make strong contributions. Then seek opportunities that match your passion. AAPP provides a plethora of opportunities for volunteering. Commit to one or more of these opportunities. In doing so, you will meet others with similar interests as you and you will give back to a wonderful community by bringing your own unique, valuable perspective.
