Session Summary

The Teaching Community is hosting a webinar on the topic of layered learning and interprofessional education (IPE). During the webinar we will be focusing on successes, challenges, lessons learned from implementation of a layered learning practice model (LLPM) and pilot of an interprofessional mental health elective course comprised of graduate level nursing and Doctor of Pharmacy students.

Suzanne Harris, PharmD, BCPP, CPP, is a clinical assistant professor at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy and a clinical pharmacy practitioner and preceptor in psychiatry with the UNC Medical Center Psychosomatic Disorders Clinic. Through Dr. Harris’ role as the Experiential Director for UNC Healthcare, she works closely with faculty, preceptors, and pharmacy learners in their LLPM experiences. Dr. Harris’ career and research interests are in transitions of care for psychiatric patients, experiential training, innovative practice models and teaching strategies, and student mental health. Casey Gallimore, PharmD, MS is an Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy. Dr. Gallimore practices within an integrated care model at Access Community Health Centers in Madison where she collaborates directly with primary care and behavioral health clinicians to provide psychotropic medication management. Her scholarly and service interests include delivery of integrated healthcare and scholarship of teaching and learning. Gina Bryan is a board-certified psychiatric advanced practice registered nurse (APRN). She is the director of the Post-Graduate Psychiatric Certificate Program at the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Bryan's doctoral degree focused on health policy.  In addition to teaching, she maintains a clinical practice at Rock County Mental Health in Janesville, Wisconsin. Her scholarly and service interests include engagement in health policy to improve access to mental and addiction healthcare.
