Program Philosophy

The Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency Program at VA Boston has been accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) since 2019. The program is designed to provide a training opportunity for individuals desiring to develop clinical competency in the area of psychiatric pharmacy. The 12-month training period incorporates outpatient, inpatient, and residential experiences devoted to the development of skills essential for the delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients with mental illness.

Site Special Features

Affiliated with Boston University School of Medicine and Harvard University Medical School, the medical center is a tertiary care referral center for the VA in the Northeast. The three medical centers and five Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) serve as a training site for undergraduate and graduate students from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS) University and Northeastern University College of Pharmacy and Allied Health. The VA Medical Center in Boston is one of seven National Centers of Excellence for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
