Program Philosophy

To prepare PGY 1 residents as Psychiatric Pharmacist Specialist to be able to work in setting up a practice in Psychiatric Pharmacy, to work as a collaborator with other members of the treatment team, in treating, analyzing, and making recommendations in the care of patient with psychiatric and neurologic disorders. Pharmacists that has graduated from this program, are all currently employed either in the Veterans affairs medical system, in Private practice, in State hospital, and in academia working on psychiatric related manufactures of agents for mental health.

Site Special Features

Site has both outpatient and in-patient psychiatric unit. Also association with McWhorter School of Pharmacy and Auburn university in Precepting 2nd year and 4th year pharmacy students.
