  • PGY2 Other Features: Residents will complete a CME during their residency as well as have the opportunity to give a didactic lecture to psychiatric medical residents. Residents will complete a research project and associated manuscript written for publication, which will be presented at a state conference. An optional teaching certificate is offered. The resident will have exposure to a longitudinal leadership rotation as well as drug use management rotation, focusing on cost-effective therapies at Kaiser Permanente. Residents who successfully complete the PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency Program will be prepared for advanced patient care, academia, or other specialized positions, along with board certification in psychiatric pharmacy (BCPP).

Program Philosophy

The PGY2 psychiatric pharmacy residency program at KP San Jose is intended to build upon the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and PGY1 pharmacy residency program to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists in the field of psychiatric pharmacy. Residents will build upon their accumulative experience and knowledge while working more independently to provide patient care in an advanced practice setting.
