  • PGY2 Other Features: This residency is within the Minnesota state hospital system. Core block rotations occur mostly at two main sites in Anoka, MN, and St. Peter, MN, with longitudinal and other experiences occurring at other sites around the state. Our residency provides experiences in a wide variety of patient care phases, from acute inpatient to long-term inpatient to outpatient. Required block experiences include: -Orientation -Acute adult inpatient psychiatry -Forensic Services -Adult Psychiatry -Ambulatory Services Require longitudinal experiences include: -Drug information/formulary management -Teaching (practice, academia, and didactic opportunities available) -Leadership & Staffing (staffing is 8 hours every 2 weeks in first half of the year; every 6th weekend [total 4 weekends] in 2nd half of the year) -Research Project Elective experiences include: -Geriatrics -Pediatric/Adolescent psychiatry -Mental Health Inpatient Consultant Our new outpatient clinic experience includes serving patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our affiliation with the University of Minnesota gives our resident an Academic learning experience opportunity as faculty for an interprofessional mental health program. Through this affiliation there are also opportunities for further professional development (such as an optional teaching certificate among other opportunities). Our affiliation with Abbott Northwestern allows an opportunity for an elective inpatient pediatric/adolescent experience.
