
ASAM and fellow advocacy groups with the Mental Health Liaison Group sent a letter to the House Energy & Commerce Committee leadership urging them to pass the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Reauthorization Act. Reauthorization of SUPPORT would enhance SUD treatment for patients and allocate resources to grow and strengthen the addiction treatment workforce. The House Energy & Commerce Committee adjourned its markup on Tuesday, April 8 without voting on legislation to reauthorize the landmark law to address the opioid crisis, the SUPPORT Act, and committee Republicans rejected a proposal from Democrats to advance most portions of the bipartisan, bicameral health deal that stalled in December after Elon Musk nixed the broader spending bill it was part of.
