Jolene Bostwick, PharmD, BCPP-AAPP President
As I look back on this year for the American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists (AAPP), I am deeply grateful for the achievements that have strengthened our association and advanced our shared mission.
I am grateful for our willingness to respond and adapt.
The responsiveness and productivity of our volunteers and staff in a rapidly evolving world is impressive. Our Rapid Action Task Force stands out as one of this year’s most impactful accomplishments. In a shifting political environment, our task force came together quickly, to develop policy statements and briefs that address immediate challenges to evidence-based psychiatric care and ensure our members remain informed and empowered to advocate. This was more than a symbolic gesture, it was a meaningful feat, accomplished through collective expertise, energy, and a genuine commitment to advocacy. A special shout-out to those task force members: Laura Hanen (our Venable Government Affairs Representative), Aaron Salwan, Michael Shuman, Danielle Stutzman, and Andy Williams.
Additionally, one of our most significant steps this year was to make strategic changes to our technology vendors and systems. These advances continue to make us more efficient and responsive, allowing our talented staff to deliver on high-impact initiatives and serve you as members.
I am grateful for our community’s support and the resources that sustain us.
This year’s strong corporate sponsorships and educational grant support were vital, especially as we navigated rising costs globally and at our Annual Meeting. These sponsorships and grants provided support in delivering top-tier programming, professional development, and networking opportunities. The contributions of our own AAPP Foundation, every sponsor, and every grant, made a difference for our members.
I am grateful for the continued commitment to evolving our educational offerings to meet our members’ needs.
Cutting-edge programming such as our new Clozapine educational series, expanded opportunities for member-submitted programming, and expanded recertification hours from 5 to 10 at the Annual Meeting in 2026, demonstrate our focus on staying attuned to our members and their feedback. You challenge us to be better and help shape the future of our field. Your voices inform every advance we make.
I am grateful for how we lift each other up and set new standards.
Witnessing the induction of our first class of AAPP Fellows was genuinely moving. This new fellowship program, along with our expanded awards and recognition initiatives, shines a spotlight on innovation, leadership, and excellence in psychiatric pharmacy. Celebrating our members through these honors isn’t just about the achievements themselves, it’s about inspiring future leaders and building pride in our profession.
Most importantly, I am thankful for you, our members.
In addition to our incredible staff, I am most grateful for the passion, resilience, and ingenuity of our members and volunteers. Your commitment to patient care and continual professional growth inspires everything we do as an association.
Thank you for making this such a transformative year for AAPP. Together, we have shown what is possible when we lead with courage, collaborate with intention, and never lose sight of our mission.
Cheers to our 2025 achievements and to the exciting opportunities ahead.
