Course Description
This webinar highlights key considerations for antipsychotic LAI preparation, administration, storage, and patient privacy. Videos on LAI administration are incorporated in the presentation to help learners visualize appropriate injection techniques and locations.
Learning Objectives
- Identify the route of administration for long-acting injectable (LAI) antipsychotics.
- Explain the process for preparing LAI antipsychotics for administration.
- Describe appropriate injection techniques for intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
- Discuss the storage requirements and stability data of LAI antipsychotics.
Target Audience
We invite you to participate in this online course if you are a pharmacist, nurse, or other health care professional interested in administering and/or learning more about psychotropic long-acting injectables for patients living with serious mental illness or substance use disorders.

Christine Rarrick, PharmD, MBA, BCPP
Clinical Manager—Inpatient Pharmacy MUSC Health
Dr. Rarrick completed her PharmD at the University of New Mexico before making a transition to the Medical University of South Carolina for residency training. After completion of a PGY1 & PGY2 in psychiatric pharmacy, Christine stayed on to work for MUSC Health. Currently, she is a clinical manager for the MUSC Charleston Division inpatient pharmacy department. Prior to transitioning into a leadership role, her clinical practice focused in psychiatric pharmacy, providing care within an outpatient long-acting injectable medication clinic.
