Program Philosophy

The goal of this residency program is to transform the resident from a pharmacotherapy generalist into a psychiatry specialist by expanding on the fundamentals learned in the PGY1 year. By conceptualizing and integrating both experiences and teachings, our product will be an independent practitioner who can optimize medication therapy management outcomes in psychiatric patients. Successful completion of the PGY2 program will prepare the resident for attainment of specialty board certification in psychiatry and a career as a psychiatric clinical pharmacy specialist or an academician.

Site Special Features

Level 1A VAMC with specialized programs in Neurology/Parkinson's Disease, Traumatic Brain Injury, Polytrauma, Spinal Cord Injury, and Geriatrics. This facility also has a Methadone Maintenance Treatment Program, Substance Abuse Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (SARRTP), Mental Health Intensive Case Management (MHICM), Bipolar Disorder Clinic, and Clozapine Clinic.
