If you are a pharmacist, nurse practitioner, or other health care professional involved in the comprehensive medication management of individuals living with mental health and/or substance use disorders, we invite you to participate in this online course.
Street Medicine, health and social care provided to people living unsheltered in their own environment, aims to meet people exactly where they are on their own terms. Responding to the needs of people on the streets, many street medicine teams provide treatment for mental health and substance use disorders, often in the absence of a psychiatrist or mental health specialist. Psychiatric pharmacists are uniquely positioned to provide direct care management and serve as medication experts in the street medicine setting for patients with sub-optimal control of symptoms or common comorbidities. In this session, participants will explore a street psychiatric treatment algorithm, street-based harm reduction prescribing, and methods for gaining and maintaining trust with people living outside.
