Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Travel Grant  

AAPP is committed to creating and fostering a diverse community of pharmacists and pharmacy leaders to help address disparities in health care. As included in our DEI plan, AAPP is pleased to continue the DEI Travel Grant program to the Annual Meeting, funded by the AAPP Foundation. The DEI Travel Grant application window is from September 14, 2026 through November 16, 2026. The DEI Travel Grant will be awarded only when submissions are identified that meet or exceed the grant requirements.

Grant Components/Requirements 

One travel grant to AAPP 2027 will be awarded. Psychiatric pharmacists and any pharmacy residents with strong psychiatric interest are eligible to apply. The grant will provide up to $2500 toward Annual Meeting registration, flight, lodging at the host hotel, ground transportation, and a meal stipend. As part of the award, the recipient must present their work at the AAPP 2027 Annual Meeting DEI Community Idea Exchange. Applications must describe DEI initiatives/projects with significant involvement of a psychiatric pharmacist, a pharmacy resident, or a collaboration of a psychiatric pharmacist or pharmacy resident with other interprofessional team members.

GoalsThe goal of this grant is to support practicing psychiatric pharmacists and pharmacy residents who are able to showcase a DEI-related initiative they have led or contributed to significantly. The initiative should accomplish one or both of the following:
  1. Promote the educational and professional development of psychiatric pharmacists
  2. Advance patient care for underserved or disadvantaged groups living with mental illness, including substance use disorders

 

Although all pharmacist applicants will be considered, preference will be given to candidates who:  

  1. Self-identify as a member of an underrepresented group

  2. Experience financial barriers to attending the AAPP Annual Meeting

  3. Are new practitioners including pharmacy residents with strong psychiatric interest; New practitioner=less than 5 years from completion of training

  4. Describe DEI initiatives with outcome data 

  5. Completed the DEI-related initiative within the last 2 years

Grant Criteria On or before Monday, November 16 at 8 AM Central time, applicants must submit:  

  1. A current Curriculum Vitae (CV) 

  2. Attest to AAPP’s Honor Code and Code of Conduct

  3. Submit a 1,000 or less word personal essay containing: 

    1. Information on the DEI-related initiative to include a description of: 

      1. The initiative including purpose, dates, and location

      2. How the initiative targets an underserved or disadvantaged group*

      3. Goals of the initiative

      4. How success was measured 

      5. Outcomes measured and realized, if any 

      6. Impact of project/initiative, if relevant

    2. Future plans:   

      1. A description of how this initiative is innovative and, if applicable, how it adds to the currently available literature

    3. Degree of alignment with AAPP’s DEI Statement/Goals

    4. Self-identification of which underrepresented group applicant belongs to, if applicable.  

    5. A summary of the financial barriers the candidate is experiencing to attend the AAPP Annual Meeting, if applicable. Among other information:

      • Explain to what extent your employer pays/contributes to your attendance costs (include partial funding if applicable)

      • If you’ve attended the AAPP Annual Meeting in the last 3 years, please explain how your situation has changed

*Disadvantaged groups include but are not limited to those facing socioeconomic stressors, racial and ethnic minorities, indigenous peoples, refugees and migrants, and LGBTQ+ population

Student Registration Grants

The AAPP Foundation supports the Student Registration Grant Program designed to support interest, learning, and connection to the psychiatric pharmacy profession by supporting student attendance at the American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists (AAPP) Annual Meeting. Applications are accepted now through January 8, 2027. Grants are available thanks to the generous support of the AAPP Past Presidents’ Destiny Fund and AAPP members. A special thank you to the AAPP Student Committee for the administration of this grant program.

Requirements

Grant applicants must be PharmD students and must submit an application through the grant submission portal by the January 8, 2027, deadline. Applications require a:

  • CV
  • Personal essay
  • Letter of recommendation from a faculty member on the provided template
