Course Description
Pharmacogenomic testing is increasingly shaping personalized approaches to antipsychotic therapy, offering new opportunities to optimize treatment efficacy and minimize adverse effects. This session will review the latest evidence-based consensus guidelines, highlight clinically relevant gene-drug interactions, and discuss patient populations most likely to benefit from pharmacogenomic testing. Participants will also explore strategies for incorporating pharmacogenomic information into antipsychotic treatment decisions through real-world clinical scenarios. Join this session to gain an up-to-date understanding of how pharmacogenomics can support more individualized, evidence-informed care for patients receiving antipsychotic therapy.
Learning Objectives
- Identify key gene-drug interactions relevant to antipsychotic efficacy and safety.
- Describe current evidence-based guidance for using pharmacogenomic results to inform antipsychotic therapy.
- Recognize patient characteristics and clinical scenarios where pharmacogenomic data for antipsychotic therapy may be most beneficial.
- Discuss practical strategies for integrating pharmacogenomic information into clinical decision-making for individuals receiving antipsychotic treatment.
Target Audience
If you are a pharmacist, nurse practitioner, or other health care professional involved in the comprehensive medication management of individuals living with mental health and/or substance use disorders, we invite you to participate in this online course.
