Patients living with serious mental illness have complex and growing needs and the behavioral health workforce can't keep pace with the ratcheting demand for services. This fact sheet outlines this growing crisis and describes how, similar to the VA model, psychiatric pharmacists can serve as a leading option to expand access to care and assist in filling gaps. Congress must take action to remove barriers to the inclusion of psychiatric pharmacists as outlined in this fact sheet.

The purpose of the Annual Meeting is to advance the knowledge and improve competency of participants through the delivery of evidence-based presentations on cutting-edge, diverse, and controversial issues in psychiatric pharmacy.
The AAPP Foundation has developed a series of 6 grant guidance videos to aid prospective grant applicants with their research projects and grant execution. Why Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Matters to AAPP As the home association for psychiatric pharmacy, AAPP advocates for appropriate use of medications, enhanced access to care, and improved patient outcomes.
Despite positive outcomes demonstrated by psychiatric pharmacists when integrated into healthcare teams, the financial investment required to integrate such services may be a barrier. The ability to demonstrate a return on investment (ROI) over a short period of time is imperative when persuading leadership to support a new clinical position.
As educators and advocates for evidence-based psychotropic medication management, BCPPs in CAP decrease polypharmacy, increase medication adherence and knowledge, and enhance patient outcomes. Given the need for interdisciplinary collaboration among BCPPs, child and adolescent psychiatrists, and primary care providers, it is crucial for pharmacy administrators to respond and recognize the necessity of integrating pharmacy services into CAP and integrating BCPPs into pharmacy departments.

Genoa’s psychiatric pharmacy courses are offered in conjunction with the American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists (AAPP), a membership association serving and driven by psychiatric pharmacists. These modules will close 12/31/2025. You can anticipate that each module will take you between 1 to 3 hours to complete depending on your learning style and preferences. Each module has a required examination. A score of 70% is required to successfully complete each exam.
