President's Blog: Connection and Belonging Key in Today’s World

As President, I am honored to reflect on the moments that shape our association. Belonging, in my perspective, is more important now than ever. It grows when we recognize each other’s contributions and celebrate our shared work in psychiatric pharmacy and in advancing the profession through AAPP.

Recently, we announced our newest class of AAPP Fellows. Each Fellow embodies leadership, commitment, and advancement in our field. I encourage you to read more about our newest Fellows and our Fellowship and awards program at our Awards & Recognition page.

We also take pride in honoring this year’s award recipients, including our first-time ever Early Practitioner Award recipients. Their dedication strengthens our profession and reminds us of the core values that unite us. For a full list of this year’s honorees, visit 2026 Award Recipients.

The world presents us with complex challenges, often requiring thoughtful adaptation and resilience. Within AAPP, we find the strength to navigate uncertainty together. By connecting, sharing knowledge, and uplifting each other, we support our patients, our profession, and our own wellbeing.

Our upcoming Annual Meeting (April 19-22 in Seattle’s Eastside) serves as a great opportunity to meet these needs. The Annual Meeting allows us to connect, learn, celebrate, and reinforce our sense of community. Every interaction, whether in a session or conversation, deepens our commitment to each other and our shared mission. It is these moments that carry us forward and sustain our community.

Annual meetings have been a powerful force in my professional journey. Each year, I leave these gatherings with a renewed sense of purpose and connection. The conversations and collaborations that take place, expand my perspective and deepen my commitment to psychiatric pharmacy. Being surrounded by colleagues who share our passion and dedication is energizing. I find myself inspired by the exchange of ideas and the collective drive to advance our profession and support our patients. These meetings remind me that together, we can accomplish far more than we can alone.

Recognition and connection are central to who we are at AAPP. I look forward to seeing many of you at the Annual Meeting in two short months and to building more meaningful moments together. Thank you for your ongoing engagement and contributions.
