Session Summary

With recent rapid growth in artificial intelligence (AI) program capabilities, there is an increasingly urgent need to educate healthcare professionals on potential applications, limitations, and ethical considerations. It is important for pharmacists to be aware of how AI can assist in various professional tasks (e.g., research, treatment planning, patient monitoring, and education). Integration of AI models into patient care environments will change provider clinical decision making, and use of AI within the healthcare system will necessitate transparency and ethics oversight to prevent data misuse. This program will provide knowledge on the existing implementation of AI in healthcare, including an overview of functional and ethical limitations, and future utility of AI programs such as ChatGPT in psychiatry.
