The live session is complete.

Target Audience

If you are a pharmacist, nurse practitioner, or other health care professional involved in the comprehensive medication management of individuals living with mental health and/or substance use disorders, we invite you to participate in this online course.

Session Summary

Almost 1 out of 5 mental health providers will experience patient loss to suicide in their career. Many will note this as a career defining moment but will not receive support from colleagues, supervisors, or administrators. Fear of being shunned or ostracized by colleagues coupled with processing possible guilt as a “clinician-survivor” may feel like an impossible emotional hurdle to overcome. This session will focus on reducing stigma and promoting healing through sharing stories of patient suicide loss. During this session, participants will learn about the impact of patient loss through a mix of didactic learning and shared personal experiences.

Consider making this session part of your BPS Continuing Professional Development plan! Please refer to the BPS Psychiatric Pharmacy Content Outline to see how this activity may align.

This session is sponsored by the AAPP Foundation in memory of Kim Tallian who we lost in January 2023.
