Course Description

In this session you will learn how to actively involve participants, apply proven facilitation methods, and create meaningful discussion plans tailored to your goals. Kathleen (Katie) Brandert, PhD, MPH

Assistant Dean for Public Health Practice, University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Public Health | Dr. Katie Brandert is a seasoned executive coach and facilitator with more than two decades of experience guiding leaders and organizations through complex challenges. She specializes in leadership development, team building, and organizational culture transformation, and is certified in a range of tools and assessments that help people understand themselves, manage change, and work more effectively together. As Assistant Dean for Public Health Practice and Assistant Professor of Health Promotion at the UNMC College of Public Health, Katie bridges the worlds of academic expertise and real-world practice. Her work spans individual leadership development to systems-level change, with a particular focus on building the capacity of health and healthcare leaders across Nebraska, the Great Plains, and nationally. For a decade she led the Great Plains Leadership Institute, and she continues to maintain an active executive coaching practice. Katie earned her PhD in Leadership Studies, Master of Public Health, and bachelor's in Communication Studies and Psychology from the University of Nebraska system. Based in Omaha, she enjoys exploring the local restaurant scene, growing tomatoes in her garden, and spending time with her sons who keep her grounded and laughing.
 

Colleen Svoboda, MPH, CTF

Partnerships and Assessment Manager, Office of Public Health Practice, University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Public Health; Facilitator, Team Coach | Colleen Svoboda, MPH, CTF (she/her) is an experienced facilitator, planner, community health advocate, and performance improvement specialist. Colleen started her public health career providing technical assistance and training to local health departments in Nebraska. She helped coordinate a successful accreditation effort at the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services requiring a focus on community health assessment, strategic planning, health improvement planning, quality improvement, performance management, and workforce development. Colleen also spent time as a Program Coordinator at Children’s Hospital & Medical Center managing community grants, implementing community health needs assessments, and coaching community organizations in their efforts to prevent childhood obesity. Currently, she is the Partnerships and Assessment Manager at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Public Health focused on public health modernization efforts and maintains an independent facilitation / consultation business. Colleen earned a Master of Public Health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Colleen is a certified Technology of Participation (ToP) facilitator and has completed the coursework for Organizational & Relationship Systems Coaching (ORSC) through the Center for Right Relationship Global (CRR Global).
