BCPP Recertification Products

Current Board Certified Psychiatric Pharmacists (BCPPs) are required to recertify every 7 years. Recertification assures the public and the profession that BPS-certified pharmacist specialists undergo periodic evaluation to verify that their knowledge and skills are maintained. Recertifiers must:
  • Original requirements: Sit for and successfully complete the BCPP examination through BPS; Updated requirements for board-certified pharmacists starting a new recertification cycle in 2024 and onward: Sit for and successfully complete the BCPP examination through BPS and 20 units of continuing professional development activities; OR
  • Original requirements: Earn 100 hours of continuing education credit provided by a professional development program approved by BPS; Updated requirements for BCPPs starting a new cycle in 2024 and onward: Complete 80 units of approved BCPP Recertification programming and 20 units of continuing professional development activities

The only BPS certified provider of BCPP recertification education is the American Association of Psychiatric Pharmacists (AAPP) offering 4 products annually in the ACPE and BCPP Recertification credit increments noted below. Consider making these products part of your BPS Continuing Professional Development plan! Please refer to the BPS Psychiatric Pharmacy Content Outline to see how these activities may align.

New in 2026! The Clinical Application Series (CAS), a BCPP recertification product, is offered live at AAPP's Annual Meeting. Based on BCPP feedback, the number of CAS hours has DOUBLED from 5 to 10! AAPP members who register for the Annual Meeting (full registration only) get 50% off CAS! Members must be registered for the Annual Meeting before registering for CAS to receive the 50% discount.

Please note, candidates who become board certified and recertified must wait until the following calendar year to begin accumulating CE hours for recertification.

* This course is a two-year product released at the start of even years (2026, 2028...). Credit may NOT be earned in consecutive years with the same edition of the book (i.e., credit may not be earned in both 2026 and 2027 with the same book edition).
** Recertification credit is earned during the calendar year that the exam is finalized. For example, the 2026 Clinical Application Series could be used for 2026 credit if completed by 12/31/2026 or for 2027 credit if completed after 12/31/2026. In this way, additional hours are available in the above 7-year cycle from prior year products that remain open.
