The Congressional Psychedelics Advancing Therapies Caucus released a report today outlining recommendations for integrating psychedelic-assisted therapy — a combination of psychiatric counseling with controlled doses of psychedelic drugs such as psilocybin or MDMA, also known as ecstasy or molly, to treat mental illnesses — into the nation’s health care system. The report is based on responses to a 2024 request from lawmakers to clinicians, researchers, veterans’ advocates, tribal leaders and others concerning issues like provider training, patient safety and federal regulation.
