Activity Dates: 10/06/2022 - 10/06/2025
If you are a pharmacist, nurse practitioner or other healthcare professional involved in the comprehensive medication management of psychiatric patients, we invite you to participate in this online course.
Cannabis laws continue to change, and more states have laws either decriminalizing or legalizing marijuana and cannabis products. Increases in cannabis-related hospitalizations have been noted with presentations ranging from edible overdose/intoxication to cannabis hyperemesis syndrome. Chronic daily users of marijuana may be admitted to the hospital and be at risk for cannabis withdrawal. In psychiatry, we need to know how cannabis use disorder may impact other substance use disorders or psychiatric illness. Given the hot topic of cannabis and the ever-changing laws, it is important for psychiatric pharmacists to be proficient in caring for those with cannabis use disorders and managing the potential sequelae of chronic cannabis use.
