Target Audience

If you are a pharmacist, nurse practitioner, or other health care professional involved in the comprehensive medication management of individuals living with mental health and/or substance use disorders, we invite you to participate in this online course.

Session Summary

Palliative psychiatry is a conceptual approach to treatment of patients with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) who continue to experience symptoms despite treatment. This approach to caring for these patients is described as palliative, instead of curative. Psychiatric pharmacists may not be aware of this emerging approach. In this session, participants will learn how the approach of palliative psychiatry may be implemented in patients with SPMI.

Consider making this session part of your BPS Continuing Professional Development plan! Please refer to the BPS Psychiatric Pharmacy Content Outline to see how this activity may align.
