Target Audience

If you are a pharmacist, nurse practitioner, or other health care professional involved in the comprehensive medication management of individuals living with mental health and/or substance use disorders, we invite you to participate in this online course.

Session Summary

Management of insomnia can be challenging, especially in special patient populations and those experiencing treatment resistant insomnia. There is no standard definition of treatment resistant insomnia, but it is known to contribute to poor quality of life and can be comorbid with many other mental health disorders. Psychiatric pharmacists must understand the role pharmacologic agents play in the management of insomnia in special populations and in cases of treatment resistance. This session will focus on the risks and benefits of available treatment options for insomnia in special populations and treatment resistant insomnia.

Consider making this session part of your BPS Continuing Professional Development plan! Please refer to the BPS Psychiatric Pharmacy Content Outline to see how this activity may align.
