Program Philosophy
This residency will provide opportunities to function independently as practitioners by conceptualizing and integrating accumulated experience and knowledge into the provision of patient care that improves medication therapy for Veteran patients. Clinical education and advanced training in psychiatry will occur in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Residents will gain clinical skills and knowledge in pharmacotherapy, pharmacokinetics, and the pathophysiology of core psychiatric and neurologic disease states. Our program will guide residents to develop and exhibit characteristics of a practice leader. Residents who successfully complete this residency will possess competencies that qualify them for CPP and/or faculty roles and position them to be eligible for attainment of board certification in psychiatric pharmacy.
