- PGY2 Other Features: The PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency at Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) offers numerous opportunities for direct patient care, research, and teaching activities in an academic inpatient psychiatric setting. The program consists of required inpatient rotations in general adult psychiatry, mood disorders, geriatric psychiatry, adolescent psychiatry, young adult/transitional age psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, neurology, precepting, orientation, and consult liaison services, as well a required outpatient psychiatry rotation, which may be in the mobile pharmacy clinic (underserved population) and/or intensive outpatient). Elective rotations are offered for inpatient child psychiatry, inpatient addiction medicine, inpatient palliative care, and academia at the University of Connecticut (UConn) School of Pharmacy. The resident will gain teaching experience through presenting didactic lectures and co-precepting APPE students and PGY1 pharmacy residents. Optional teaching and research certificate programs are also offered.

Site Special Features
Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH) is split between two main campuses within walking distance of each other in New Haven, CT (York Street Campus and Saint Raphael Campus). YNHH has 118 adult and adolescent psychiatric beds plus 16 beds for children as part of Yale New Haven Children's Hospital. Psychiatric emergency services encompass a total of 38 beds across both campuses. YNHH ranked 8th in the nation for psychiatry by U.S. News and World Report for 2022. Our inpatient programs treat adult, transitional age, adolescent, child, and geriatric patients for a variety of disorders, including depression, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, neurocognitive disorders, and substance use disorders. YNHH serves as the primary teaching site for the Yale School of Medicine and Yale Psychiatry Residency Program. The Pharmacy Department that serves both campuses is progressive, providing decentralized clinical services, automation, USP 797 sterile preparation, and support to numerous ambulatory clinics and a 125-bed skilled nursing facility.
