Program Philosophy

The Salem VA HCS PGY2 program is a PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency funded by Phase II and Phase V of the VA Interprofessional Mental Health Education Expansion Initiative. In Phase II one PGY2 equivalent training position was awarded for participation on the interprofessional Evidence Based Practice (EBP team). In Phase V one PGY2 equivalent training position was awarded for participation in the interprofessional Memory Assessment Clinic (MAC). The focus of this program is to develop a pharmacy practitioner with knowledge, skills, and abilities in psychiatric pharmacy who will be equipped to participate as a clinical pharmacy specialist and be an integral member of an interdisciplinary team caring for individuals with psychiatric and neuropsychiatric disorders.
