My Why

I want to contribute towards building the future of psychiatric pharmacy. The cliche saying is that pharmacy is a small world, and the mentors and people who have impacted me most as part of this field had also volunteered with AAPP to help build a cornerstone in that world. I have experienced firsthand the impact and legacy they have left for newer practitioners like me. So, volunteering helps me give back in the same way to follow in those footsteps.

I Gain…

A network of new colleagues and friends. Volunteering helps me feel connected to something larger within our profession. Although we are separated by geography, we are all united by our goals that align with moving the needle on patient care and psychiatric pharmacy.

My Employer Benefits…

From the association home I help create as part of my representation and networking. That home impacts students who may be interested in the field and other pharmacists hoping to become better stewards of mental health outcomes locally.

My Volunteer Tip

Just jump in and get the ball rolling! There is no right time or moment you'll necessarily be "ready" to volunteer. Everyone would benefit from your passion and ideas! You can always start off small and build from there.
