AAPP is the first professional organization where I truly felt a sense of belonging. The mission, the people, and the shared commitment to advancing psychiatric pharmacy all resonate deeply with me. Volunteering gives me the opportunity to actively contribute to improved patient care, support colleagues in their professional goals, and celebrate the collective accomplishments of our members. It allows me to give back to the psychiatric pharmacy community while helping to shape the future of our specialty.
A strong, supportive community of professionals who are passionate about improving psychiatric care. This involvement has expanded my access to diverse resources and expertise. I can reach out to colleagues for guidance on complex clinical cases, assistance with policy and protocol development, or support with scholarly publications. Volunteering has also strengthened my leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, giving me opportunities to grow both professionally and personally within a mission driven environment.
From my access to a national network of specialists and leaders in psychiatric pharmacy which has elevated our organization’s clinical standards and professional visibility. This connection enhances the quality of care we provide, especially when navigating complex clinical scenarios or developing policies. My volunteer work also strengthens my leadership and communication skills, which I bring back to my institution through improved teamwork, program development, and patient centered initiatives.
Your voice and expertise matter. When you step into a volunteer role, you help ensure that psychiatric pharmacists are represented accurately and meaningfully in national conversations. Don’t underestimate the value you bring; AAPP thrives because its members contribute their passion and knowledge. Volunteering not only allows you to shape the direction of the profession but also gives back far more than you expect through mentorship, collaboration, and personal growth.
