The Patient Medication Education Group Community is hosting a webinar discussion on implementing new patient medication education group services. An example will be presented describing the implementation of pharmacist-led patient medication education groups within a pediatric/adolescent psychiatric emergency department located at an academic medical center in Riverside, CA. Following the presentation, roundtable discussion will be encouraged to address any questions or concerns regarding PMEG challenges and successes from webinar attendees. The webinar will be led by Dr. Andy Williams, PharmD BCPP BCGP, a psychiatric clinical pharmacist at Riverside University Health System (RUHS) in Riverside, CA. Dr. Williams and the rest of the RUHS psychiatric pharmacy team participate in nine 30 minute patient medication education groups a week. The RUHS psychiatric pharmacy team leads groups on the adult, psychiatric ICU, and adolescent inpatient mental health units. Most recently they have added the RUHS psychiatric emergency departments to their schedule of medication education groups. This webinar is intended for those participating in or implementing patient medication education groups for patients with mental illness.
