The Substance Use Disorders Strategies Community is hosting a webinar on the topic of gabapentin abuse. During the webinar we will focus on available literature related to the abuse potential, prevalence, and safety concerns surround gabapentin abuse, along with state specific legislative changes in gabapentin regulation. Our speaker, Dr. Alyssa M. Peckham, is a board certified psychiatric pharmacist who practices under a collaborative practice agreement in Massachusetts General Hospital’s addiction clinic. She is also an Assistant Professor at Northeastern University serving as the faculty’s psychiatry and addiction expert. She has published multiple articles related to gabapentin abuse, and she will be sharing her work and the work of others. The webinar is intended for all practitioners that work with gabapentin or patients with substances use disorders.

The Neurology Community is hosting a webinar on the topic of medical complications associated with traumatic brain injury (TBI). During the webinar we will be focusing on complications from heterotrophic ossification to post traumatic seizures and spasticity. The Patient Care Practice Management Community is hosting a webinar on the topic of pharmacist billing for direct patient care services. During the webinar we will focus on various methods of billing for these services, including potential CPT codes that can be used for billing and how to select among them. Appropriate utilization of the various codes available and how to apply them will also be presented. A discussion of potential pitfalls in pharmacist billing will also be included. The webinar will be presented by CPNP members Caitlin McCarthy, PharmD and Rick Silvia, PharmD, BCPP, both of whom currently practice in Federally Qualified Health Centers providing disease state management to patients and billing through their health centers for the patient care services they provide. During the webinar we will focus on the potential utility of medication treatments for cocaine (along with methamphetamine and other stimulants) use disorder, cannabis use disorder, and behavioral addictions (e.g. gambling disorder). Our speaker, Dr. Jessica Moreno, is a board certified psychiatric pharmacist who practices on an integrated behavioral health team within primary care at a large health care system in the metro-Detroit area. The Research Community is hosting a webinar on the topic of research and initiation of collaborative projects. Speaker Jonathan Leung, PharmD, BCPS, BCPP, will discuss ways to continue the pursuit of research in a clinical setting after residency as well as describe a recently completed project that involved other colleagues from multiple health systems. Dr. Leung is a psychiatric clinical pharmacist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN and an assistant professor with the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine. He practices primarily on a general adult inpatient unit and teach psychopharmacology at the Mayo College of Medicine and for the Adult Psychiatry Residency program.
